I’m Jacob Petrie

I’m a technology leader focused on developer and engineering experience by building and learning from technical communities. I currently lead Technical Advocacy at Datadog, where I work with teams and users around the world to help shape products around real user needs.

My work sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and community. I spend a lot of time thinking about how technical practitioners — especially developers and engineers — experience tools in the real world, and how feedback from those experiences can meaningfully influence product direction.

Before Datadog, I did similar developer relations work at Stripe and Twitter, and held engineering and leadership roles across a range of startups. Over time, this has included building and scaling DevRel teams and programs, defining strategy, and helping organizations turn developer insight into real product and platform improvements.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a theatrical lighting designer — experience that still shapes how I think about systems, storytelling, and collaboration.
